Hello World! During my explorations of feature stories I discovered this photograph from the October 2012 issue in the travel portion of the Charlotte Magazine. As you know from my introduction I enjoy nature photography, but I also enjoy travel. This is a photograph taken in Beaufort, South Carolina for a feature story commemorating the 300th anniversary of the town. I chose this photograph because it tells the story of the end of the day when things are winding down. As you notice the sun is setting in the background and dusk is falling on the harbor. To me this is a individual's last look to ensure all is right before walking away. Everyone knows that feeling as you are leaving a place or a event. The one where you turn for one last look to recap the day and make those heart warming mental notes. The memories we work to be able to afford when we take a vacation.
The original story is the typical travel story about a relaxing getaway town where people come to visit to lose their problems and take a step back from reality. The locations have many things to offer such as fine dinning and activities for individuals and families. The photography really relays the message of travel and adventure to the tourists and people in and around the Charlotte, North Carolina area who are looking for a break away from the usual day. To me the photograph makes me want to take a weekend trip or getaway and just relax my worries away. The warming colors of the photograph are enticing and make you feel at home or welcome. It draws us in by appealing to your comforts with the use of a balance of complimentary colors and use of visually stimulating symbols. The boats are a representation of summer or springtime and appeal to your sense of adventure. Great job Charlotte Magazine, I want to take a trip to Beaufort, South Carolina.
